Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to the Bonfire service, our sites, services, mobile applications, products, and content, or any services that link to these Terms (“Service” or “Services”), and your acceptable use of the Service as defined in our Community and Content Guidelines.

Except as written in these Terms, Services are offered by Ingenious, Inc. (“we”, “us” or “our”) and are provided “as-is”. Ingenious, Inc. makes no other warranties, express or implied, and hereby disclaims all implied warranties, including any warranty of merchantability and warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.

Any information, text, links, graphics, photos, audio, videos, or other materials or arrangements of materials uploaded, downloaded or appearing on the Services (collectively referred to as “Content”) shall also be evaluated and governed under these Terms.

Who may use the Service


Our services are not directed to children, and you may not use our services if you are under the age of 13. You must also be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf).


If representing a company, organization, government, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to do so and have the authority to bind such entity to these Terms.



We take our users' privacy seriously. Our Privacy Policy describes how we treat the information you provide to our Services. Your use of the Services is governed by our Privacy Policy at all times.

Content and Media Ownership

You own the rights to content you share on Bonfire.

By posting content to Bonfire, you give us a nonexclusive license to publish it on the Services, including anything reasonably related to publishing it (like storing, displaying, reformatting, and distributing it). In consideration for Bonfire granting you access to and use of the Services, you agree that Bonfire may enable advertising on the Services, including in connection with the display of your content or other information. We may also use your content to promote Bonfire, including its products and content. We will never sell your content to third parties without your explicit permission.

You’re responsible for the content you post. This means you assume all risks related to it, including someone else’s reliance on its accuracy, or claims relating to intellectual property or other legal rights.

You’re welcome to post content on Bonfire that you’ve published elsewhere, as long as you have the rights you need to do so. By sharing content on Bonfire, you represent that doing so doesn’t conflict with any other agreement you’ve made.

By sharing content you didn’t create to Bonfire, you are representing that you have the right to do so. For example, you are posting a work that’s in the public domain, used under license (including a free license, such as Creative Commons), or a fair use.

Content Moderation

We reserve the right remove any content you share for any reason.

You can delete any of your posts, or your account, anytime. You can delete posts you created in the Bonfire app. If you wish to delete your account, you should reach out to us from the email address on record for your account by sending an email to support@bonfire.camp, and include:

  • The email address on your account
  • The username associated with the account you wish to terminate

We process removal requests in the order they are received, and will do our best to reply with our account termination process within 5 business days.

Processing the deletion may take a little time, but we’ll do it as quickly as possible. We may keep backup copies of your deleted post or account on our servers for up to 14 days after you delete it.

Copyright Violations

We respect all copyright and trademark holders’ right to protect their copyrights and will employ our best efforts to remove content that is in direct violation of your copyrights. If you would like to file a DMCA takedown request, you should follow our DMCA and Copyright Policy.

Changes to Terms

We amend these Terms from time to time, for instance when we update the functionality of our Services or when there are regulatory changes. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to generally notify all users of any material changes to these Terms, such as through a notice on our Services or by email, however, you should look at the Terms regularly to check for such changes. We will also update the “Last Updated” date at the top of these Terms, which reflect the effective date of such Terms. Your continued access or use of the Services after the date of the new Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop accessing or using the Services.

Disclaimer of warranty

Bonfire provides the Services to you as-is. You use them at your own risk and discretion. That means they don’t come with any warranty. None express, none implied. No implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, security, title or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

Bonfire won’t be liable to you for any damages that arise from your using the Services. This includes if the Services are hacked or unavailable. This includes all types of damages (indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary). And it includes all kinds of legal claims, such as breach of contract, breach of warranty, tort, or any other loss.

No waiver

If Bonfire doesn’t exercise a particular right under these Terms, that doesn’t waive it.


If any provision of these terms is found invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, you agree that the court should try to give effect to the parties’ intentions as reflected in the provision and that other provisions of the Terms will remain in full effect.

Choice of law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by California law, without reference to its conflict of laws provisions. You agree that any suit arising from the Services must take place in a court located in New York, NY.

Entire agreement

These Terms (including any document incorporated by reference into them) are the whole agreement between Bonfire and you concerning the Services, and you agree that no other Agreement exists, written or oral.

Open Source

Our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are modified versions of those made available by Medium under a Creative Commons Sharealike license, and we are making ours available under the same license. You are welcome to repurpose our versions for your own use, but make sure to replace references to Bonfire with references to you.
